Syzygy Consulting LLC is committed to conducting its work in a manner that supports economic, social and environmental sustainability. As a global health consulting organization, we recognize that the way projects are designed and delivered can contribute to inclusive economic development, equitable participation, stronger local capacity and responsible use of environmental resources.
This policy applies to Syzygy Consulting LLC and, where relevant to an assignment, to staff, consultants, subcontractors and project partners working on our behalf.
Economic Sustainability and Local Value Creation
• Prioritize qualified national and local consultants, researchers, data analysts and technical experts where technically appropriate and consistent with client requirements.
• Use qualified local suppliers and small and medium-sized enterprises for project-related goods and services where feasible.
• Encourage fair opportunities for businesses and professionals owned or led by women, persons with disabilities and other under-represented groups where qualified providers are available.
• Strengthen national analytical and implementation capacity through knowledge transfer, practical training, mentoring and reusable tools rather than substituting for existing local expertise.
• Consider affordability, value for money, financial sustainability and long-term national ownership in technical recommendations.
Social Sustainability, Human Rights and Inclusion
• Provide equal opportunity and prohibit discrimination in the recruitment and engagement of staff and consultants.
• Respect workers’ rights, professional dignity and fair working conditions, with zero tolerance for harassment, forced labor or child labor.
• Promote gender equality, disability inclusion and reasonable accommodation where required.
• Use accessible and inclusive approaches for consultation, training and communication and respect cultural diversity and local knowledge.
• Protect confidentiality and handle project and participant information responsibly.
• Consider equity, vulnerable populations and financial protection in health-sector analysis whenever relevant to the scope of work.
Environmental Sustainability
• Use virtual meetings, remote technical support and digital collaboration where these can meet project objectives effectively.
• Limit unnecessary travel, combine trips where practical and use lower-emission ground transport when safe and feasible.
• Use economy-class air travel as the default for project travel unless client policy, operational requirements or an approved exception applies.
• Apply a digital first approach to reports, data collection, consultation and training materials and minimize unnecessary printing.
• Purchase durable and energy-efficient equipment where feasible, reduce unnecessary consumables and packaging, and support reuse, recycling and responsible electronic-waste disposal.
• Consider climate resilience and environmental sustainability in technical analysis when relevant to the assignment.
